L & L Orthodontics is more than just a specialist orthodontic clinic; the practice won Business of the Year in the 2017 Manningham Business Awards. The team are committed to delivering high quality orthodontic treatment for children, teens and adults from two conveniently located clinics – L & L Orthodontics in Collins Street, Melbourne and Templestowe Orthodontic Clinic.
L & L Orthodontics is led by husband and wife team, specialist orthodontists Dr Igor Lavrin and Dr Sarah Lawrence along side Dr Alison Sahhar who joined the L & L Orthodontics team in 2019 and Dr Sarah Roath who joinded the practice in 2022. In addition to treating patients with the latest orthodontic treatment techniques and technology, Drs Lavrin and Lawrence attend many industry conferences, sharing their expertise and knowledge of the orthodontic industry they are so passionate about.
Patients have the option of many different treatment options at L & L Orthodontics. This includes Invisalign for which the clinic is recognised as an Invisalign Blue Diamond provider. The team has over 15 years of Invisalign experience and treated more than 900 patients with this appliance. Other treatments available include metal braces, ceramic braces, gold braces and lingual braces.
Dr Igor Lavrin
Dr Lavrin grew up in both Melbourne and Hong Kong and received his dental education at the University of Adelaide. He then worked as a general dentist in Melbourne and Warrandyte. Furthering his expertise, Dr Lavrin completed a 3 year orthodontic specialist programme and Masters at Harvard University. Numerous awards for scholastic and clinical excellence have been received by Dr Lavrin and he has published articles in the orthodontic and scientific literature. He has worked in private Orthodontic practice in Massachusetts, USA, lectured internationally in the US, Canada and Asia, and has taught orthodontics to dental students at Harvard University.
Dr Lavrin has taught in the Orthodontic Department at the University of Melbourne and is on the Editorial Board of the Australian Orthodontic Journal. He holds professional memberships in the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association, the World Dental Federation, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Australasian Society of Lingual Orthodontics, and the Harvard Society for the Advancement of Orthodontics. He is a past President of the Harvard Club of Australia (Victoria) and a past Federal Treasurer of the Australian Society of Orthodontists. Dr Lavrin is a certified member of the Australian Orthodontic Board and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. He is proud to be part of a husband and wife team with Dr Sarah Lawrence.
Dr Sarah Lawrence
Dr Sarah Lawrence originally grew up in New Zealand and graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with honours. Upon graduation, Dr Lawrence worked in private and hospital practice as a General Dentist. She spent two years in the United Kingdom as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Returning to Australia, Dr Lawrence completed her three-year specialist Orthodontic training at the University of Melbourne.
Dr Lawrence has experience in treating patients with craniofacial anomalies including Cleft Lip and Palate as well as medically compromised patients. She has lectured in Australia and New Zealand and has taught orthodontics at the University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Children s Hospital. She holds professional memberships in the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australasian Society of Lingual Orthodontists and is a certified member of the Australian Orthodontic Board. Dr Lawrence is married to Dr Lavrin and they have three daughters: Tabitha, Georgette and Scarlett.
Dr Alison Sahhar
Dr Alison Sahhar grew up in Gippsland, Victoria. She graduated from La Trobe University in the inaugural dentistry cohort. During her tertiary education, Alison was awarded the final year academic prize in dentistry and was a recipient of the International Golden Key award for academic success. Following graduation, Alison returned to work in her hometown, Warragul for three years as a general dentist. Alison also returned to La Trobe University teaching dentistry students as a preclinical and clinical demonstrator. Dr Sahhar then completed the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics, a three-year specialist training programme at the University of Melbourne.
Alison holds professional membership in the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association and is a certified member of the Australasian Orthodontic Board. Alison has had strong involvement with the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch previously serving as chair of the recent graduates and students committee, member of the CPD committee and chair of the South Eastern group.
Dr Sarah Louise Roath
Dr Sarah Louise Roath grew up in Melbourne and graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science and then went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery postgraduate degree. During her dental studies, she achieved Dean's Honours List prize twice in dentistry and was a keen committee member of the Melbourne Dental Student Society.
Post-graduation brought Dr Roath to sunny Brisbane where she worked as a general dentist, completing multiple professional development courses, and supporting her partner who worked as a dentist in the army. She then returned to her hometown to complete the three-year specialist training programme, the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics at the University of Melbourne.
Dr Roath has a keen interest in scientific dental research winning the International Association of Dental Research ANZ Division Research Poster Competition and allowing her to subsequently present this research at an international level. She is a professional member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association and certified member of the Australasian Orthodontic Board.
In her spare time, Dr Roath enjoys supporting local live music, culture and arts, following the Richmond Tigers AFL team, and tending to her growing indoor plant collection.
