Edge Orthodontics

THE ORTHODONTISTs
Dr Angie Phelan
As soon as she’d started dental school, Angie knew that she wanted to be an orthodontist. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2005 as a Dentist with First Class Honours and went on to gain valuable experience working in general practice before moving to Sydney to pursue her passion for Orthodontics. It was here that Angie completed her Clinical Doctorate (DClinDent) in Orthodontics at the University of Sydney.
Angie’s friendly manner and enthusiastic presence helps her patients feel reassured and relaxed at all times. Known for always going the extra mile, Angie is a perfectionist who prides herself on achieving results that exceed her patient’s expectations.
Her outstanding clinical results have been recognised on numerous occasions. You can see her award winning cases in our Smile Gallery.
Angie’s accolades include:
- winning the Australian Society of Orthodontics (NSW) prize for best clinically treated case by a postgraduate orthodontist in (2010)
- being awarded the Australasian Orthodontic Board Clinical Award (NSW, 2011)
- receiving the Milton Sims Award by the Australian Society of Orthodontists. This award is bestowed on the most meritorious post-graduate orthodontist in Australia (2009/10) and was based on Angie’s outstanding clinical ability, university achievements and published research
Having grown up and attended school in Coorparoo at Loreto College, Angie jumped at the opportunity to return to her hometown and open Edge Orthodontics with her husband, Dr Lachlan Crowther.
Angie has a keen appetite for expanding her knowledge in the field of orthodontics and has been involved in several research projects, including working on a study with the University of Michigan on facial growth and development.
During her downtime Angie enjoys keeping fit, spending time with friends and family and trying not to talk endlessly about teeth with her husband Lachlan!

THE ORTHODONTISTs
Dr Lachlan Crowther
Orthodontics is more than just a profession to Lachlan. He is passionate about delivering exceptional results believing there is no challenge too great. He has a special interest in adult orthodontics and utilises his great communication skills to make all patients feel comfortable when sitting in his chair.
At the forefront of Australian orthodontic treatment, Lachlan is particularly interested in expanding the boundaries of orthodontics through new technologies and aesthetic appliances. He has been invited to lecture at the University of Queensland – where he graduated from with First Class Honours – and is involved with the teaching of lingual orthodontics.
Lachlan has amassed a wealth of professional experience throughout Australia. After graduating from UQ in 2002, Lachlan practised as a general dentist in the town of Longreach for three years where he was employed by Queensland Health as the Senior Dentist for the Central West region.
Later, Lachlan moved to Sydney and in 2008 he obtained his Masters in Orthodontics from the University of Sydney where he was awarded Honours for his outstanding achievements during his training.
After graduating he worked in Sydney and Dubbo as an orthodontist in a group specialist practice.
Lachlan returned to his home town of Brisbane at the end of 2010 to commence specialist practice and established Edge Orthodontics with his wife, Dr Angie Phelan.
On the off chance you can drag Lachlan away from the practice, he enjoys trying new sports and spending as much quality time with his wife as possible.
